Sustainabilty
Building a more sustainable future in construction and manufacturing
Sustainability is playing a growing role across our industries. Choosing energy-efficient design, circular materials and smarter data processes doesn’t just reduce environmental impact it reduces cost. We help architects, engineers, manufacturers and builders make that shift, from first concept through to construction and operation.
Our approach to sustainable design, construction & manufacturing
BIM, CAD and connected data make it possible to optimise a building or product across its entire lifecycle, not just at a single stage. We help our clients put that consistency to work: connecting design, engineering and construction data so that sustainability decisions can be made earlier and measured accurately, at every step.
Sustainability Quick Check
Not sure where to start? In a one- to two-hour online-session, we’ll assess your current Sustainability maturity, review your BIM and data processes, identify optimisation opportunities and if useful demonstrate the right software for your needs.
Why sustainability matters in construction & manufacturing
Construction is responsible for a significant share of global emissions and resource use and most of a building’s environmental impact is determined early long before construction starts. That means energy-efficiency measures alone aren’t enough: a genuinely sustainable approach looks at the full lifecycle, from raw material to end of life, across ecological, economic and social dimensions (UN Environment Programme, Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction, 2022).
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy.
Scope 3: Indirect emissions across the value chain, including suppliers and product use.
In Germany, LCA is becoming a legal requirement under the Gebäudemodernisierungsgesetz (GModG). Therfore lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions reporting for buildings becomes mandatory from 2028 (§7), and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) which supply the underlying material-level data for these assessments are becoming a mandatory input alongside it.
Circular construction & manufacturing
Circular thinking – reusing materials, designing for disassembly, minimising waste – applies as much to construction as it does to manufacturing. We help clients in both industries apply circular principles in practice, and offer in-depth guides for each:
